APE Grupo supports vulnerable families

APE Grupo supports vulnerable families

APE Grupo has signed an agreement with the Emmaus Foundation to help fund its shelter homes. This initiative provides housing to support more than 30 homeless people. This action is in addition to the projects the Castellón-based firm has already undertaken as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The ceramic company has joined this humanitarian project, which is intended to support the most vulnerable groups and give them the necessary means for their integration into society.

The Community of Emmaus, based in Torrechiva (Castellón), was founded in 1983. Since then, it has promoted different actions to help those who are most in need. It currently has two properties in Castellón and a centre in Torrechiva. Between these three buildings, they are able to accommodate 30 residents.

All cases that use the programme come from municipal social services. Priority is given to families with minors that are at risk of social exclusion. The foundation also shelters immigrants of different nationalities, refugees from conflict-torn countries such as Ukraine and victims of gender violence, among others.

APE Grupo began co-funding the initiative in January. It not only grants beneficiaries a dignified residence, but also pursues their labour market integration and economic independence. Priest José García, from the parish of San Bartolomé de Onda and project precursor, explains that the end goal of this initiative is “to organise networks that prevent people who are in critical situations from leaving the margin of normal society and entering poverty.”

To this end, the non-profit organisation provides users with the necessary resources to enter the labour market. Indeed, in the case of immigrants or refugees, the Emmaus Foundation guides them in the process of obtaining a certificate of registration. In this way, they can go to school, access health care and apply for the necessary public aid in each case.

APE Grupo strengthens its social commitment

Aware of the existing economic hardships, APE Grupo has decided to support this social project through a financial contribution. This will help fund the different housings owned by the Community of Emmaus in the province of Castellón. According to Father José García, the support of companies such as APE Grupo is essential to ensure that these initiatives that, in his words, “bring dignity to beneficiaries”, can continue to exist.

These are not the first steps APE Grupo has taken in this direction. In fact, in 2022 the Castellón-based company participated in the annual ‘Great Food Collection’ campaign of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), supported Ukrainian people through multiple collections of basic necessities and a photographic exhibition and carried out in Cersaie (Bologna, Italy) a campaign in support of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients.

In addition, the ceramic company has collaborated with various international NGOs and local organisations since its founding. APE Grupo partners with Maset de Frater and the In My Fathers House Foundation, among others. Finally, the group also sponsors the female Rugby Turia (Valencia) team as part of its clear commitment to promote minority sports that need support for growth and publicity.
